Developing a new structure for the special credit department of a large systemically important financial institution (‘SIFI’)

With respect to a specific defined sub-portfolio, a large bank had approx. €200m of its OOE in a restructuring portfolio. Beaufort was asked to develop a new structure for this special credit department. The quality of the operations was improved by: 

1) Evaluating the organisational structure and processes, 

2) Quantitative analyses of the portfolio and changes over time 

3) Evaluating the quality of management information. 

We advised speeding up the transfer of problematic loans from regular management to the special credits department and improving the management information by compiling clear performance indicators. Finally, we developed service concepts for the cases in the restructuring portfolio mainly depending on the individual credit exposure volumes.
