Assistance for operational and financial management improvement of an internationally oriented fruit & vegetable trading company.

The company, with a turnover level of approx. €10m, is internationally active in fruit & vegetable trade applying a commission fee model as well as trading on own account and risk. A few years ago, a separate sister company was established focusing entirely on serving the Russian market. Although this additional revenue line had risen spectacularly to €15m, the profitability remained negative due to poor payment behaviour of its customers. Beaufort was asked to provide insight into the business model (commission vs. trade) and to set-up a framework for operational and financial control by formulating KPIs. Based on Beaufort's findings, the bank renewed its credit line, thus guaranteeing the continuation of the company’s healthy business activities.
